Vincenzo Scrofani

Living, travelling, designing.

I am Vincenzo Scrofani, an architect. I come from Comiso in Sicily and studied in Genoa. For my thesis, I looked for a subject that addressed a concrete need: with two fellow students I developed a proposal for a nursery school in Ragusa, testing the design against the local climate, resources and construction possibilities.

Paris

I lived in Paris for eight years. These were years of life and work across different professional settings: housing at Units Architecture, the transformation of offices and interiors at CV2A / Saguez & Partners, then work at Eiffage / Nové. Through CeGeLog and Harmonies, I helped organise the in-house architectural work and develop a system of materials and solutions for a national housing renovation programme.

Travel and materials

Getting to know the world through travel is another part of my story. Alongside the projects are experiences working with reclaimed wood and bamboo in Brazil, and earth construction in Peru. In Italy I designed and built wooden loudspeakers. In these different experiences, working with materials also means working with my hands.

Here I bring both dimensions together: work in practices and in a construction company, with its responsibilities and technical development, and personal experiences of travel and building. From the scale of a building to that of a chair, this portfolio presents what I have designed and what I have built myself.
